Music Together: You can find a lot of information about the benefits of music and movement for child development on this national Music Together site. This a a research-based program for small children and their caregivers, and somewhat different from other music programs. Relaxed, casual and fun, experiental learning is emphasized, with lots of parent education.

The Moon and River Cafe: Richard Genest has given thousands of up and coming artists and musicians and poets the chance to perform in public, refine their skills, decide if this is their gig, and practice, practice, practice! He has done for the Albany and Schenectady area performer community what Lena Spencer did for those in Saratoga. Not to mention one of the few alternative, non-chain, non-plastic places around, with affordable vegetarian meal choices and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Very accepting of all human beings, whether they dress in Sal's Army clothes or The Gap's!
Eighth Step: A 47-year-old institution of New York's Capital District, run as a labor of love by Margie Rosencranz and her crew of big-hearted volunteers, showcasing a myriad of the folk and alternative music world's greats and soon-to-be greats! Check it out at Proctor's Theater in Schenectady. Consider becoming a member!
